Simple at-home dried blood spot kit

The at‑home NAD+ test that measures 9 markers, not one.

NAD+ is central to how your cells turn food into energy, and levels are thought to decline with age. From a few drops of blood collected at home, this test measures NAD+, NADH, NADPH and NADP, the two vitamin B3 precursors that make them, and three ratios that show how the whole system is balanced.

The value

Why it's worth knowing

NAD+ sits at the centre of how your cells make and use energy, and most people have never seen their level. Here is what measuring the full NAD system actually tells you.

The whole NAD system, not a single number

NAD+, NADH, NADPH and NADP, plus nicotinamide and nicotinic acid, the two forms of vitamin B3 your body builds them from, plus three ratios. Nine markers from one dried blood spot. A single NAD+ reading gives you a level; the full set shows you how the system is actually working.

NAD+ is central to cellular energy

NAD+ is the coenzyme your cells use to convert nutrients into ATP, and it is involved in DNA repair and sirtuin activity. Levels are thought to decline with age. Measuring it gives you an actual number where most people only have a guess.

The NAD+/NADH ratio: your cellular redox balance

NAD+ is the oxidised form and NADH the reduced form. The balance between them reflects how efficiently your cells are cycling energy. An NAD+ level on its own can look acceptable while the ratio tells a different story, which is why both are reported.

NADP/NADPH: antioxidant and detox capacity

NADPH powers the systems that neutralise oxidative stress and support detoxification. The NADP/NADPH ratio shows how that side of the system is balanced, and the NAD/NADP index ties the two halves together.

Find out whether your NR or NMN is doing anything

Precursor supplements are popular and not cheap. Test before you start, test again after a few months, and you have a real answer rather than a feeling. Because the B3 precursors are measured too, you can see the pathway, not just the endpoint.

A baseline you can track from home

A few drops of blood on a card, no clinic and no appointment. Retest in a few months against the same reference ranges and see what has changed. Your kit arrives in plain, unbranded packaging.

What we measure

A full read on your NAD+ system.

Nine markers measured from one dried blood spot by LC-MS/MS, so you see each level against its reference range and how the parts of the system sit relative to each other.

The four forms of the NAD molecule. Two carry energy, two support antioxidant and repair pathways, and the balance between each pair matters as much as the levels themselves.

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide)

The oxidised form and the headline marker. A coenzyme in mitochondrial energy production, helping convert nutrients into ATP, and involved in DNA repair and sirtuin activity.

NADH (reduced form)

NADH carries the electrons NAD+ has picked up. Essential to energy metabolism; the balance between NAD+ and NADH is what determines how efficiently energy is cycled.

NADPH (reduced phosphate form)

Powers anabolic processes such as lipid synthesis and is central to antioxidant defence and detoxification, protecting cells from oxidative damage.

NADP (oxidised phosphate form)

The oxidised counterpart to NADPH. Involved in biosynthetic pathways supporting tissue repair, regeneration and lipid metabolism.

Your body builds NAD+ from vitamin B3. Measuring both forms shows whether the raw material is there, which is what makes this test useful for anyone taking a precursor supplement.

Nicotinamide (NAM)

Also called niacinamide. A form of vitamin B3 and a direct precursor to NAD+. Supports cellular repair processes and helps regulate inflammatory activity.

Nicotinic acid (NA)

The other form of vitamin B3 that feeds NAD+ synthesis. Adequate levels support energy metabolism, lipid balance and cardiovascular health.

A ratio between two markers often says more than either level alone. The report calculates three, each describing a different aspect of how the NAD system is balanced.

NAD+/NADH ratio

The balance between oxidative and reductive processes in the cell. A marker of metabolic efficiency, and the number most people mean when they talk about redox balance.

NADP/NADPH ratio

The balance between antioxidant activity and oxidative processes. Reflects detoxification capacity and protection against oxidative stress.

NAD/NADP index

An overview of the relationship between the energy pathway and the antioxidant pathway, tying the two halves of the system together.

Marker descriptions are general explanations to help you read your report, not a diagnosis. NAD levels reflect your cellular metabolism at the time of sampling and are interpreted alongside your history, diet and any supplements.

Your results

Results that actually make sense.

Quantified against a reference range

All nine markers are reported with the measured level and the reference range beside it, so you can see at a glance which are high, which are low and which sit comfortably in range.

Written commentary on anything flagged

For each marker outside range the laboratory adds a plain-language note explaining what it does in the cell and what a result like yours can indicate, so the numbers come with context.

Good to know

NAD+ Test FAQs

An NAD+ test measures nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, the coenzyme your cells use to convert nutrients into energy, and which is involved in DNA repair and sirtuin activity. This test goes further than a single NAD+ level: from one dried blood spot it measures NAD+, NADH, NADPH and NADP, the two vitamin B3 precursors nicotinamide and nicotinic acid, and three ratios that show how the system is balanced. Nine markers in total, each against a reference range.

Anyone interested in cellular energy, metabolism or healthy ageing who wants an actual measurement rather than a guess. Anyone taking, or thinking about taking, an NR or NMN precursor supplement who wants to know whether it is changing their levels. And anyone who wants a baseline they can retest over time. To look at the broader drivers of energy and ageing, the Longevity Baseline covers metabolic and nutrient markers in a blood test.

The NAD+ Test is $299.00, currently reduced from $369.00. That single price covers the at-home collection kit, prepaid return postage, LC-MS/MS laboratory analysis of all nine markers and your full report.

You collect it yourself at home as a dried blood spot. The kit includes a lancet and a collection card with step-by-step instructions: a quick finger-prick, a few drops of blood onto the card, let it dry, and post it back in the prepaid return mailer. It takes about ten minutes and there is no clinic visit or venous blood draw.

Your full report is delivered to your secure portal once the laboratory has completed analysis. You can read it yourself or share it with your GP, naturopath or nutritionist to guide next steps.

It can show whether your levels have changed. Test before you start, or as a baseline now, then retest after a few months on the same supplement and compare the two reports against the same reference ranges. Because nicotinamide and nicotinic acid are measured alongside NAD+ and NADH, you can see whether the precursor is getting into the pathway as well as what happened to the endpoint.

A single NAD+ result tells you one number. This test reports NAD+ alongside its reduced form NADH, so the ratio between them, a marker of how efficiently your cells cycle energy, can be calculated. It also measures the phosphate pair NADP and NADPH that supports antioxidant and detoxification pathways, and the two B3 precursors that feed the whole system. The pattern across all nine is far more informative than any one of them alone.

No. It is a self-requested at-home test kit that you order online without a referral or appointment.

No. NAD markers reflect your cellular metabolism at the time of sampling and this is not a standalone diagnostic tool. Results are interpreted alongside your history, diet and any supplements, and anything that needs follow up should be taken to your GP or practitioner.

NADPH supports anabolic processes such as lipid synthesis and plays a key role in antioxidant defence and detoxification. It helps protect cells from oxidative damage and supports immune health.

  • NADP (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate):
NADP is the oxidised form of NADPH and is involved in multiple biosynthetic pathways, including those supporting tissue repair, regeneration, and lipid metabolism.

  • NAM (Nicotinamide):
Nicotinamide, also known as niacinamide, is a form of vitamin B3 and a precursor to NAD+. It supports cellular repair processes and helps regulate inflammatory activity.

  • NA (Nicotinic Acid):
Nicotinic acid is another form of vitamin B3 that contributes to NAD+ synthesis. Adequate levels are important for maintaining energy metabolism, lipid balance, and cardiovascular health.

  • NAD+/NADH Ratio:
The NAD+/NADH ratio reflects the balance between oxidative and reductive processes within cells and provides insight into metabolic efficiency.

  • NADP/NADPH Ratio:
This ratio indicates the balance between antioxidant activity and oxidative processes, helping assess detoxification capacity and protection against oxidative stress.

  • NAD/NADP Index:
The NAD/NADP index offers an overview of the relationship between NAD and NADP pathways, helping evaluate cellular energy regulation, oxidative balance, and repair mechanisms.

Reasons to get this test

  • Measures NAD+ and the entire NAD metabolome NAD+, NADH, NADPH, NADP, plus NAM (nicotinamide), NA (nicotinic acid) and three critical ratios. The full NAD biochemistry panel, not just a single marker.
  • NAD+ is the cellular fuel for longevity NAD+ powers mitochondrial energy production, DNA repair, sirtuin activation and cellular aging pathways. NAD+ declines 50% by age 60. The marker biohackers, longevity researchers and David Sinclair followers track religiously.
  • The NAD+/NADH ratio reveals cellular energy state The ratio between oxidised (NAD+) and reduced (NADH) forms shows whether your cells are producing energy efficiently. A low ratio is linked to chronic fatigue, metabolic dysfunction and accelerated aging.
  • For unexplained fatigue and cognitive decline NAD+ deficiency drives mitochondrial dysfunction, brain fog, low energy and accelerated aging. The biochemical signature behind chronic fatigue when standard tests come back normal.
  • Track whether NR/NMN supplementation is working Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) and Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) supplements are popular but expensive. This test reveals whether they are actually raising your NAD+ levels or just costing you money.
  • A simple at-home collection kit Order online, provide your sample at home, post back in the pre-paid envelope. No clinic, no appointment, no referral.
