That demand has been one of the most interesting things we've seen while building MediTests. Almost every time we explain the platform to someone, the reaction is the same: "I didn't know you could order your own blood tests without seeing a doctor first." They look at us in shock. Which is exactly why there's so much demand right now.
How MediTests started
It came from our own frustration with how slow and limited the system was.
The idea came from our own experience trying to access proactive testing. When we wanted to check markers like testosterone, hormones and general wellness, the process was slower and more limited than expected. In some cases, we hit the Medicare wall and were told the testing was not needed or would not be covered.
James also came at this from inside the pathology system. With his background in phlebotomy, he saw first-hand in hospitals and collection centres how out of control people can feel once something has already gone wrong.
That question became the foundation of MediTests. We built a platform that lets Australians order blood tests online, walk into one of 3,300+ collection centres nationally, and receive results within 24 to 48 hours, all without a consult or referral.
The platform runs through direct relationships with major NATA-accredited Australian laboratories. Since launching, thousands of Australians have used MediTests across hormone checks, men's and women's health, fertility, STI testing, genetics, longevity and custom panels.
