Why it's worth knowing

The complete nutrient deficiency screen

Iron (via ferritin), Vitamin D, B12, folate, magnesium and zinc measured together. The six nutrients most commonly deficient behind fatigue, mood, immunity, cognition and hormonal health.

Iron, Vitamin D and B12: the fatigue triad

The three deficiencies that account for most cases of low energy, brain fog and poor recovery. Ferritin catches iron deficiency before haemoglobin drops. Vitamin D drives mood and immunity. B12 supports brain, nerves and red cell production.

Magnesium drives 300+ enzymatic reactions

Required for energy production, muscle contraction, blood sugar control, sleep and cardiovascular function. Estimates suggest 50%+ of adults are deficient and rarely tested. Drives muscle cramps, anxiety, sleep issues and headaches when low.

Zinc for testosterone, immunity and skin

Zinc deficiency drives low testosterone, poor immune function, slow wound healing, skin issues and impaired smell and taste. Common in vegetarians, athletes, stressed individuals and anyone over 60.

Folate for methylation, fertility and brain health

Folate is critical for DNA synthesis, neurotransmitter production and pregnancy. Tested alongside B12 reveals the full methylation cofactor picture. Particularly important for women planning a pregnancy and people with MTHFR variants.

The complete read on energy, mood and recovery

These six nutrients are the foundation. If you feel tired, low, foggy, anxious, weak or struggle with recovery, the cause is usually one or more of these. Testing them together pinpoints exactly which deficiencies are driving your symptoms.

Common questions

Everything you need to know before you order.

No GP consult or telehealth appointment needed. We instantly generate your pathology referral and send it directly to your inbox after checkout.
You can order any test you want without the gatekeeping.

Through your GP, blood tests are typically only bulk-billed under Medicare if you have a specific medical condition that justifies them. You can't just walk in and ask for a panel because you're curious or want a baseline. Your doctor decides which markers get tested, and that list is usually limited.

MediTests is for people who want to take a more proactive approach to their health. Whether you're looking for deeper insights, want to establish a personal baseline, or simply choose exactly which markers you want to track, you're in control. No condition required, no waiting room, no Medicare eligibility hurdles.

Never. The price you see includes everything: referral, testing, processing and results. No surprises.
The most common reason is that something feels off but a standard GP panel hasn't turned anything up. Fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, low mood, poor recovery, irregular cycles and low libido all have measurable biological causes that a targeted panel can identify.

You don't need symptoms to benefit from testing. Proactive testing establishes your personal baseline, catches risk factors before they cause harm, and helps you understand whether diet, training or lifestyle changes are actually working.
Yes, absolutely. You can build your own panel by choosing from our wide range of individual tests. Whether you're checking one thing or a combination of markers, you're in control of what you get tested for. Visit our Create Your Own Test page to start building.

A very positive experience

I booked a blood test because my health insurance did not cover GP consultations. The referral form was emailed to me immediately, I walked into a collection centre the next morning and my results arrived the very next day. One result showed an elevated TSH level and because I was pregnant, a doctor from their Sydney office personally called me to talk it through. It made me feel they genuinely cared.

Could not have been better

I've been in remission from Graves Disease for a few years and suddenly had symptoms again. It was easy to choose and purchase the test I needed at a reasonable price and set up the appointment online for the next day. The lab tech was friendly and put me entirely at ease, and the results were delivered electronically within a day or two. Could not have been better.

Nutrient Deficiency Check

The Nutrient Deficiency Check is a nutrient deficiency blood test that targets the vitamins and minerals most commonly behind fatigue, low energy, poor recovery and low mood. It is one of the most practical tests to run when you feel run down but nothing obvious explains it.

It measures ferritin (iron stores), vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate, magnesium and zinc. These are the deficiencies that most often affect energy, immune function, mood and recovery, and they are common even in people eating reasonably well. Checking them together means you can target supplementation rather than guessing.

For a lighter check, the Basic Nutrient Check covers the three most common (ferritin, vitamin D and B12). If you want minerals specifically, the Trace Elements Test goes deeper on zinc, copper, selenium and manganese. You can also build your own blood test.

The Nutrient Deficiency Check needs no GP referral and no appointment, so you can get your blood test online and walk into any of 3,300+ collection centres across Australia, with results in 24 to 48 hours. For more on vitamins and minerals, Healthdirect Australia is a useful reference.

What we test for

Ferritin (Iron Stores):
Measures the body’s stored iron levels. Low ferritin is a common cause of fatigue, weakness and reduced exercise tolerance.

Vitamin D:
An essential nutrient involved in immune health, bone strength, muscle function and hormone regulation.

Vitamin B12:
Plays a key role in energy production, nervous system health and red blood cell formation.

Folate:
Supports healthy red blood cell production, DNA synthesis and overall metabolic function.

Magnesium:
Involved in muscle function, energy production, nervous system regulation and sleep quality.

Zinc:
Supports immune function, wound healing, hormone balance and overall metabolic health.
