The value

Why it's worth knowing

Confirm whether TRT is right for you

Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone and SHBG together, the depth needed to know whether low testosterone is the real story before starting any protocol.

Identify the root cause first

LH, FSH, prolactin and DHEAS measured to reveal whether the issue is pituitary, testicular or stress-driven, the read that decides the protocol.

PSA and prostate baseline

Prostate Specific Antigen captured before TRT begins, so future comparisons are clean and any change is easy to spot.

Cardiovascular and metabolic baseline

Lipid panel, hsCRP, HbA1c, kidney and liver markers, the safety read every responsible TRT protocol should start with.

Performance hormones in context

IGF-1, Growth Hormone, Cortisol and DHEAS to see how the rest of your hormone system is performing alongside testosterone.

Set a complete pre-TRT baseline

Every marker future tests will need to compare against, captured before anything changes.

FAQs

Common questions

Everything you need to know before you order.

Through your GP, blood tests are typically only covered by Medicare when they're medically warranted. Medicare covers testing because a condition justifies it, not because you want to be proactive or just want to know certain things. You can't just walk in and ask for a panel of biomarkers because you're curious or want a baseline. Your doctor decides which markers get tested, and that list is usually limited.

MediTests is for people who want to take a proactive approach to their health. Deep insights, a personal baseline, and the exact markers you want to track over time. You're in full control. It's your data. No condition required, no waiting room, no eligibility hurdles.

You can get any test you want, with over 300 blood tests across 16 categories. We never refuse a blood test.

You also get your original lab report back in 24 to 48 hours, sent straight to your inbox. No follow-up consult, no appointment to book, and nothing linked to My Health Record or Medicare. Completely private.

Same NATA-accredited labs GPs and hospitals use. Same accuracy. None of the waiting.
No GP consult or telehealth appointment needed. We instantly generate your pathology request form and send it directly to your inbox after checkout.

If you would like one, we also offer private doctor consultations as an optional extra, for people who want private blood test results and a private consult to discuss them.
As simple as it gets:
  1. Choose your test online. Your pathology request form arrives in your inbox instantly.
  2. Walk into any of our 3,300+ collection centres. No appointment needed.
  3. Results delivered securely to your inbox in 24 to 48 hours.
Most tests need no fasting at all. Some markers, like fasting glucose, fasting insulin and certain cholesterol panels, give the most accurate reading after fasting. If your test needs it, it's stated on the product page and on your pathology request form. Water is always fine.
No, never. Nothing is linked to My Health Record or Medicare. Your results are completely private and confidential: they're sent securely to your email, and only you decide who sees them. Many of our customers choose MediTests for exactly this reason, and we take that privacy seriously.
100%. We partner with NATA-accredited Australian laboratories, the same trusted labs used by hospitals and GPs across the country. Every result is processed to the same clinical standards as your local pathology centre.
Never. The price you see includes everything: your pathology request form, testing, processing and results. No surprises.
The most common reason is that something feels off but a standard GP panel hasn't turned anything up. Fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, low mood, poor recovery, irregular cycles and low libido all have measurable biological causes that a targeted panel can identify.

You don't need symptoms to benefit from testing. Proactive testing establishes your personal baseline, catches risk factors before they cause harm, and helps you understand whether diet, training or lifestyle changes are actually working.
Yes, absolutely. You can build your own panel by choosing from our wide range of individual tests. Whether you're checking one thing or a combination of markers, you're in control of what you get tested for. Visit our Create Your Own Test page to start building.

Hundreds of Australians have skipped the referral and the waiting, and taken control of their health with MediTests.

A very positive experience

I booked a blood test because my health insurance did not cover GP consultations. The referral form was emailed to me immediately, I walked into a collection centre the next morning and my results arrived the very next day. One result showed an elevated TSH level and because I was pregnant, a doctor from their Sydney office personally called me to talk it through. It made me feel they genuinely cared.

Could not have been better

I've been in remission from Graves Disease for a few years and suddenly had symptoms again. It was easy to choose and purchase the test I needed at a reasonable price and set up the appointment online for the next day. The lab tech was friendly and put me entirely at ease, and the results were delivered electronically within a day or two. Could not have been better.

TRT Baseline Bloodwork

TRT Baseline Bloodwork is a comprehensive TRT blood test for men who are starting, considering or already on testosterone replacement therapy. It pulls together the hormone, safety and general health markers worth tracking when testosterone is part of the picture, so you have real numbers rather than guesswork.

It measures total and free testosterone, SHBG, oestradiol, LH, FSH, prolactin, progesterone, cortisol, DHEAS, IGF-1 and growth hormone on the hormone side. For safety and general health it includes a full blood count (important for monitoring haematocrit), PSA, a full lipid profile with HDL and LDL, liver and kidney function, HbA1c, calcium, magnesium, phosphate and hsCRP. This gives a thorough picture before or during therapy in one walk-in test.

For ongoing, more detailed monitoring, the TRT Advanced Monitoring Panel adds advanced cardiovascular, thyroid and metabolic markers. If you only want a focused hormone read, the Male Hormone Profile is a simpler option. You can also build your own blood test.

TRT Baseline Bloodwork needs no GP referral and no appointment, so you can get your blood test online and walk into any of 3,300+ collection centres across Australia, with results in 24 to 48 hours. For more on this test and what your results can show, Healthdirect Australia is a useful reference.

What we test for

Full Blood Count: Assesses red and white blood cells and platelets, providing insight into overall health, immune function, and haematological changes that can occur with testosterone therapy including elevated haematocrit and red cell mass.

Total Testosterone: Measures the total amount of testosterone in the blood, the primary marker used to assess baseline hormonal status and evaluate treatment response on TRT.

Free Testosterone: Reflects the biologically active portion of testosterone available to cells and tissues, offering a more precise picture of hormonal status than total testosterone alone and a critical metric when optimising TRT dosing.

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG): A protein that binds to sex hormones and regulates how much testosterone is freely available. SHBG levels directly influence free testosterone and are an important variable in TRT management.

Oestradiol (E2): The primary form of oestrogen, which can rise as testosterone converts via aromatase. Monitoring oestradiol on TRT helps identify imbalances that can affect mood, libido, water retention, and cardiovascular health.

PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen): A protein produced by the prostate gland. Baseline and ongoing PSA monitoring is standard practice for men on TRT to assess prostate health and detect any significant changes over time.

Lipid Studies (Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides): Evaluates cholesterol and fat levels in the blood. Testosterone therapy can influence lipid profiles, making regular cardiovascular monitoring an important part of TRT management.

Liver Function Tests (LFTs): Assess enzymes and markers that reflect liver health. Relevant for men on oral or injectable testosterone preparations and important for monitoring any metabolic impact of ongoing treatment.

Kidney Function (EUC/eGFR): Measures waste products and electrolytes to assess kidney health and fluid balance, which can be influenced by hormonal changes during TRT.

HbA1c: Reflects average blood sugar levels over the past 2 to 3 months. Testosterone has a meaningful influence on insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, making this a useful marker to track alongside treatment.

Calcium: Essential for bone health, muscle contraction, nerve signalling, and heart function. Relevant in the context of hormonal therapy given testosterone’s role in bone density regulation.

Magnesium: Involved in muscle function, nerve activity, energy production, and electrolyte balance. Magnesium also plays a role in testosterone metabolism and is commonly suboptimal in men seeking TRT.

Phosphate: Plays a role in bone health, energy metabolism, and cellular function, and is monitored as part of overall metabolic health during hormone therapy.

High Sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP): A sensitive marker of systemic inflammation. Useful for assessing cardiovascular and metabolic health at baseline and tracking any inflammatory changes during TRT.

Luteinising Hormone (LH): A pituitary hormone that signals the testes to produce testosterone. LH is suppressed by exogenous testosterone, making it a useful marker for assessing natural production status before and during TRT.

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH): A pituitary hormone involved in sperm production and testicular function. Like LH, FSH is typically suppressed on TRT and is an important marker for men concerned about fertility.

Prolactin: A hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Elevated levels can affect libido, sexual function, and mood, and may indicate pituitary involvement relevant to the broader hormonal picture.

Progesterone: A reproductive hormone that plays a role in broader hormonal balance. Relevant in TRT monitoring as part of a complete sex hormone assessment.

Cortisol: The body’s primary stress hormone. Cortisol levels interact with testosterone and can significantly affect energy, recovery, body composition, and overall treatment outcomes.

DHEAS (Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulphate): An adrenal precursor hormone to testosterone and oestrogen. Reflects adrenal reserve and contributes to the broader hormonal picture alongside testosterone therapy.

IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1): A hormone produced primarily by the liver in response to growth hormone signalling. Reflects overall growth hormone activity and is relevant to recovery, muscle growth, body composition, and metabolic health.

Growth Hormone: Assesses growth hormone levels directly, providing insight into pituitary function, recovery capacity, fat metabolism, and musculoskeletal health alongside testosterone and IGF-1.
