Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, SHBG and Free Androgen Index alongside LH, FSH and prolactin. The hormone pattern behind PMOS.
The Lancet renamed PCOS to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome) in May 2026. Same condition, more accurate name reflecting the metabolic and hormonal complexity.
The classic PMOS symptom cluster. Elevated androgens (testosterone, free androgen index) often drive these patterns.
The ratio of LH to FSH is often above 2:1 in PMOS. The panel measures both for accurate interpretation.
Whether investigating symptoms or monitoring how lifestyle or medication is shifting your hormones, this is the focused read.

A very positive experience
I booked a blood test because my health insurance did not cover GP consultations. The referral form was emailed to me immediately, I walked into a collection centre the next morning and my results arrived the very next day. One result showed an elevated TSH level and because I was pregnant, a doctor from their Sydney office personally called me to talk it through. It made me feel they genuinely cared.
Could not have been better
I've been in remission from Graves Disease for a few years and suddenly had symptoms again. It was easy to choose and purchase the test I needed at a reasonable price and set up the appointment online for the next day. The lab tech was friendly and put me entirely at ease, and the results were delivered electronically within a day or two. Could not have been better.
These guys are brilliant
Ordered the test, got the referral letter within 20 minutes. Got the test done on a Saturday and had the results by Sunday evening. Seriously efficient and very quick.
Efficient from start to finish
I selected and ordered the tests I wanted online, then dropped into the clinic for the blood draw during my lunch break. The process was quick and efficient, and by lunchtime the following day my results had been emailed directly to me. Fast, convenient and hassle-free.
Brilliant service
Absolutely loved that I got to choose what blood tests I wanted. There is a huge selection and the process was very simple. My results arrived very quickly in my email and I'd definitely use again and recommend to friends and family.

Fantastic service
Excellent, convenient service and so easy to use. Amazingly quick results and a personalised service if needed. I could not fault any part of it.
Great option and perfect service
Easy check out of the test on the website, easy to get the test done and results came quickly. Good to get an idea of any issues as a prep before seeing the GP.
Very simple and easy
It was very simple and easy. I got my results back within a few hours, a lot quicker than I was expecting. There were a lot of locations I could go to for my blood test. Highly recommend.
Very professional and quick
Very professional, very quick, I can't fault anything. I'll be happy to do another one when the time comes.
The ease of the whole experience
The ease of the whole experience, and the quick turnaround with results. Exactly what I was after.
Reliable and no prescription needed
It is a reliable method to get a blood test without the doctor's prescription. The whole thing was easy to organise and I'd happily use it again.
Very efficient and convenient
Very efficient and convenient from start to finish. Exactly the kind of easy, no-fuss service I was hoping for.
The PCOS Hormone Check is a targeted pcos blood test that looks at the markers most relevant to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It is designed for women experiencing irregular cycles, acne, unwanted hair growth or difficulty ovulating who want to understand whether their hormones show patterns commonly associated with PCOS.
It measures total and free testosterone, SHBG and the Free Androgen Index (the androgen markers often raised in PCOS), alongside LH and FSH (whose ratio can shift in PCOS), oestradiol and prolactin. Testing these together helps reveal the hormonal patterns linked to PCOS. A blood test is one part of the picture: PCOS is diagnosed clinically alongside symptoms and sometimes imaging, so these results are most useful taken to a doctor.
For a fuller reproductive picture, the Female Fertility Panel adds AMH and other fertility markers. To see hormones alongside metabolic health (relevant in PCOS), the Women’s Hormone & Metabolic Health Check includes insulin and glucose markers. You can also build your own blood test.
The PCOS Hormone Check needs no GP referral and no appointment, so you can get your blood test online and walk into any of 3,300+ collection centres across Australia, with results in 24 to 48 hours. For more on PCOS, Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is an excellent Australian reference.

Free Testosterone: Assesses the active form of testosterone available for use by your body’s tissues, influencing energy, muscle mass, and libido.
SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin): Checks the protein that binds to sex hormones, helping determine how much testosterone is freely available.
Free Androgen Index: Calculates the ratio of testosterone to SHBG to estimate the level of active (free) testosterone.
LH (Luteinising Hormone): Regulates testosterone production in men and ovulation in women, helping assess reproductive function.
FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone): Measures fertility-related hormone activity that controls sperm production in men and egg development in women.
Oestradiol: Evaluates oestrogen levels that influence reproductive health, mood, and bone strength.
Prolactin: Checks the hormone that supports reproductive function and can affect libido and menstrual regularity when out of balance.
