Common questions

Everything you need to know before you order.

No GP consult or telehealth appointment needed. We instantly generate your pathology referral and send it directly to your inbox after checkout.
You can order any test you want without the gatekeeping.

Through your GP, blood tests are typically only bulk-billed under Medicare if you have a specific medical condition that justifies them. You can't just walk in and ask for a panel because you're curious or want a baseline. Your doctor decides which markers get tested, and that list is usually limited.

MediTests is for people who want to take a more proactive approach to their health. Whether you're looking for deeper insights, want to establish a personal baseline, or simply choose exactly which markers you want to track, you're in control. No condition required, no waiting room, no Medicare eligibility hurdles.

100%. We partner with NATA-accredited Australian laboratories, the same trusted labs used by hospitals and GPs across the country. Every result is processed to the same clinical standards as your local pathology centre.
Never. The price you see includes everything: referral, testing, processing and results. No surprises.
The most common reason is that something feels off but a standard GP panel hasn't turned anything up. Fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, low mood, poor recovery, irregular cycles and low libido all have measurable biological causes that a targeted panel can identify.

You don't need symptoms to benefit from testing. Proactive testing establishes your personal baseline, catches risk factors before they cause harm, and helps you understand whether diet, training or lifestyle changes are actually working.
Yes, absolutely. You can build your own panel by choosing from our wide range of individual tests. Whether you're checking one thing or a combination of markers, you're in control of what you get tested for. Visit our Create Your Own Test page to start building.

A very positive experience

I booked a blood test because my health insurance did not cover GP consultations. The referral form was emailed to me immediately, I walked into a collection centre the next morning and my results arrived the very next day. One result showed an elevated TSH level and because I was pregnant, a doctor from their Sydney office personally called me to talk it through. It made me feel they genuinely cared.

Could not have been better

I've been in remission from Graves Disease for a few years and suddenly had symptoms again. It was easy to choose and purchase the test I needed at a reasonable price and set up the appointment online for the next day. The lab tech was friendly and put me entirely at ease, and the results were delivered electronically within a day or two. Could not have been better.

WHOOP Advanced Labs Blood Test

If you wear a WHOOP, you already track your recovery, strain and sleep every day. What your wrist cannot show you is what is happening inside your body. The WHOOP Advanced Labs blood test adds that internal layer, measuring the hormones, metabolic markers, heart markers and nutrient levels that shape how you feel, train and recover.

WHOOP Advanced Labs in-app testing is not yet available in Australia. MediTests gives local WHOOP members a simple way to measure the same essential biomarkers here, using NATA-accredited Australian pathology, and upload the results into an existing WHOOP membership to view them alongside daily data.

This panel measures 70+ biomarkers across 12 standard pathology profiles, covering recovery and inflammation, a full hormone and thyroid profile, metabolic and insulin resistance markers, advanced cardiac markers including ApoB and Lipoprotein(a), iron studies and nutrient status. It reflects the Australian available equivalent of the biomarkers WHOOP highlights in its Advanced Labs feature, all from a single blood draw.

Order online and receive an instant pathology request to your inbox. Fast for 8 to 12 hours, then walk into any of 3,300+ Healius collection centres across Australia. No referral, no consult, no appointment. Your results are delivered as a secure NATA-accredited PDF within 24 to 72 hours, reviewed by an AHPRA-registered medical practitioner, and ready to upload to WHOOP or share with your GP.

A single test gives you a baseline. The real value comes from retesting over time and watching how your markers move alongside your daily WHOOP data as you adjust training, nutrition, sleep and recovery habits.

MediTests is an independent Australian pathology service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WHOOP. WHOOP and WHOOP Advanced Labs are trademarks of their respective owner.

What we test for

  • RBC: Red blood cell count, which carries oxygen around your body to fuel training and recovery.
  • Haemoglobin: The protein in red cells that carries oxygen. Low levels can leave you tired and flat.
  • Haematocrit: The percentage of your blood made up of red cells, a marker of oxygen-carrying capacity and hydration.
  • MCV: Average size of your red blood cells, which helps pinpoint the cause of anaemia.
  • MCH: Average amount of haemoglobin per red cell.
  • MCHC: Concentration of haemoglobin within your red cells.
  • RDW: Variation in red cell size, an early signal of some nutrient deficiencies.
  • WBC: White blood cell count, your immune system’s first line of defence.
  • Neutrophils: The most common white cells, key to fighting bacterial infection.
  • Lymphocytes: White cells central to your immune response and fighting viruses.
  • Monocytes: White cells that clear debris and support immune defence.
  • Eosinophils: White cells linked to allergies and parasitic responses.
  • Basophils: The rarest white cells, involved in allergic and inflammatory responses.
  • Platelets: Cell fragments that help your blood clot.
  • MPV: Mean platelet volume, reflecting the average size of your platelets.
  • Testosterone: The main male sex hormone, also important in women, driving energy, libido, muscle and mood.
  • Free Testosterone: The active, unbound testosterone your body can actually use, a sharper read than total alone.
  • SHBG: Sex hormone binding globulin, which controls how much of your testosterone is available to use.
  • Oestradiol: A key oestrogen, important for hormonal balance, bone and heart health in both sexes.
  • FSH: Follicle stimulating hormone, a reproductive and pituitary marker.
  • LH: Luteinising hormone, which works with FSH to regulate reproductive hormones.
  • Progesterone: A hormone central to the menstrual cycle and female reproductive health.
  • Prolactin: A pituitary hormone where elevated levels can affect mood, libido and cycles.
  • DHEA-S: An adrenal hormone and precursor to sex hormones, linked to energy and stress response.
  • Cortisol: Your primary stress hormone, influencing sleep, recovery, energy and how you handle training load.
  • Fasting Glucose: Your blood sugar level after fasting, a core marker of metabolic health.
  • Fasting Insulin: The hormone that manages blood sugar. High fasting levels can signal early insulin resistance.
  • HOMA-IR: A calculated score from glucose and insulin that estimates insulin resistance.
  • HbA1c: Your average blood sugar over the past 2 to 3 months, a key longer-term metabolic marker.
  • Total Cholesterol: Your overall cholesterol level, a starting point for assessing heart health.
  • HDL: The protective cholesterol that helps clear fats from your arteries.
  • LDL: The cholesterol that can build up in artery walls when too high.
  • Non-HDL-: All the cholesterol that is not HDL, a useful summary of heart risk.
  • Triglycerides: A blood fat used for energy. High levels are linked to metabolic and heart risk.
  • Chol/HDL ratio: The balance of total cholesterol to protective HDL, a quick heart-risk snapshot.
  • LDL/HDL ratio: The balance of LDL to HDL cholesterol.
  • Apolipoprotein A1: A protein on protective HDL particles. Higher levels are generally favourable for heart health.
  • Apolipoprotein B: Counts the artery-clogging particles directly, often a sharper heart-risk marker than LDL alone.
  • ApoB/A1 ratio: The balance of harmful to protective particles, a strong predictor of cardiovascular risk.
  • Lipoprotein(a): A largely genetic marker that can raise heart risk even when other cholesterol looks normal. Usually tested once.
  • hs-CRP: High-sensitivity CRP, a sensitive marker of low-grade inflammation that can affect recovery and heart health.
  • Creatine Kinase: An enzyme that rises with muscle stress and hard training, helping gauge recovery and overtraining.
  • Total Protein: The total protein in your blood, reflecting liver function and overall nutrition.
  • Albumin: The main protein made by your liver, linked to nutrition and fluid balance.
  • Globulin: A group of proteins involved in immunity and liver function.
  • ALP: Alkaline phosphatase, an enzyme related to your liver and bones.
  • ALT: A liver enzyme that rises when liver cells are stressed.
  • AST: An enzyme found in the liver and muscle, which can rise with hard training too.
  • GGT: A liver enzyme sensitive to alcohol and liver stress.
  • Bilirubin: A waste product processed by the liver, part of assessing liver health.
  • Sodium: A key electrolyte for fluid balance, nerves and muscle function.
  • Potassium: An electrolyte vital for heart rhythm and muscle function.
  • Chloride: An electrolyte that helps balance fluids and acidity.
  • Bicarbonate: Reflects the acid-base balance in your blood.
  • Urea: A waste product filtered by your kidneys, part of assessing kidney function and hydration.
  • Creatinine: A waste product from muscle, used to gauge how well your kidneys filter.
  • eGFR: Estimated glomerular filtration rate, the headline number for kidney function.
  • Iron: The iron currently circulating in your blood.
  • Transferrin / TIBC: The protein that carries iron around your body, and your total iron-binding capacity.
  • Transferrin Saturation: How much of your iron-carrying capacity is in use. Low levels point to iron deficiency.
  • Ferritin: Your stored iron, one of the first markers to drop with low iron, and key for energy and recovery.
  • Magnesium: A mineral involved in muscle function, sleep, energy and recovery.
  • Calcium: A mineral essential for bones, muscle and nerve function.
  • Corrected Calcium: Calcium adjusted for your protein levels, for a more accurate reading.
  • Phosphate: A mineral that works with calcium for bone and energy metabolism.
  • Uric Acid: A waste product linked to gout and metabolic health.
  • TSH: Thyroid stimulating hormone, the main screening marker for thyroid function, which drives metabolism and energy.
  • Vitamin D: Important for bones, immunity, mood and muscle function. Deficiency is common in Australia.
  • Homocysteine: An amino acid tied to the body’s methylation process. Higher levels are linked to heart and nerve health.
