It reports 48 individual blood biomarkers from a single sample. In full that is liver function (total bilirubin, ALT, AST, GGT, ALP, total protein, albumin and globulin), kidney function (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, urea, creatinine and eGFR), a full blood count (haemoglobin, haematocrit, red cell count, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, platelets, MPV, white cell count, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils), iron studies (serum iron, transferrin, transferrin saturation and ferritin), a full lipid study (total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL and non-HDL cholesterol), glucose, CRP, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, lipase, amylase, LDH and uric acid. Grouped requests like liver function and a full blood count each return a set of individual biomarkers rather than one figure, which is where most of the 48 come from. Read together they cover organ function, metabolism, inflammation, iron stores and blood health in one collection. Come in fasted if you can. Glucose is the biomarker that reads differently after a meal, and iron studies should be collected without food or iron supplements beforehand. Fast for at least 8 hours and drink only water. Cholesterol is the one people assume needs a fast and it does not, since both fasting and non-fasting samples are accepted for lipid testing. Liver function, kidney function and the full blood count are not affected either way, so if you have already eaten you can still be collected and the report will note it.
They share the same 43 core blood biomarkers: liver function, kidney function, a full blood count, a full lipid study, glucose, CRP, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, lipase, amylase and LDH. A very positive experience
I booked a blood test because my health insurance did not cover GP consultations. Could not have been better
