FAQs

Common questions

Everything you need to know before you order.

Through your GP, blood tests are typically only covered by Medicare when they're medically warranted. Medicare covers testing because a condition justifies it, not because you want to be proactive or just want to know certain things. You can't just walk in and ask for a panel of biomarkers because you're curious or want a baseline. Your doctor decides which markers get tested, and that list is usually limited.

MediTests is for people who want to take a proactive approach to their health. Deep insights, a personal baseline, and the exact markers you want to track over time. You're in full control. It's your data. No condition required, no waiting room, no eligibility hurdles.

You can get any test you want, with over 300 blood tests across 16 categories. We never refuse a blood test.

You also get your original lab report back in 24 to 48 hours, sent straight to your inbox. No follow-up consult, no appointment to book, and nothing linked to My Health Record or Medicare. Completely private.

Same NATA-accredited labs GPs and hospitals use. Same accuracy. None of the waiting.
No GP consult or telehealth appointment needed. We instantly generate your pathology request form and send it directly to your inbox after checkout.

If you would like one, we also offer private doctor consultations as an optional extra, for people who want private blood test results and a private consult to discuss them.
As simple as it gets:
  1. Choose your test online. Your pathology request form arrives in your inbox instantly.
  2. Walk into any of our 3,300+ collection centres. No appointment needed.
  3. Results delivered securely to your inbox in 24 to 48 hours.
Most tests need no fasting at all. Some markers, like fasting glucose, fasting insulin and certain cholesterol panels, give the most accurate reading after fasting. If your test needs it, it's stated on the product page and on your pathology request form. Water is always fine.
No, never. Nothing is linked to My Health Record or Medicare. Your results are completely private and confidential: they're sent securely to your email, and only you decide who sees them. Many of our customers choose MediTests for exactly this reason, and we take that privacy seriously.
100%. We partner with NATA-accredited Australian laboratories, the same trusted labs used by hospitals and GPs across the country. Every result is processed to the same clinical standards as your local pathology centre.
Never. The price you see includes everything: your pathology request form, testing, processing and results. No surprises.
The most common reason is that something feels off but a standard GP panel hasn't turned anything up. Fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, low mood, poor recovery, irregular cycles and low libido all have measurable biological causes that a targeted panel can identify.

You don't need symptoms to benefit from testing. Proactive testing establishes your personal baseline, catches risk factors before they cause harm, and helps you understand whether diet, training or lifestyle changes are actually working.
Yes, absolutely. You can build your own panel by choosing from our wide range of individual tests. Whether you're checking one thing or a combination of markers, you're in control of what you get tested for. Visit our Create Your Own Test page to start building.

Hundreds of Australians have skipped the referral and the waiting, and taken control of their health with MediTests.

A very positive experience

I booked a blood test because my health insurance did not cover GP consultations. The referral form was emailed to me immediately, I walked into a collection centre the next morning and my results arrived the very next day. One result showed an elevated TSH level and because I was pregnant, a doctor from their Sydney office personally called me to talk it through. It made me feel they genuinely cared.

Could not have been better

I've been in remission from Graves Disease for a few years and suddenly had symptoms again. It was easy to choose and purchase the test I needed at a reasonable price and set up the appointment online for the next day. The lab tech was friendly and put me entirely at ease, and the results were delivered electronically within a day or two. Could not have been better.

NattyPLUS Health & Hormone Test

Built for people who actually check

NattyPLUS built their range around one standard: a formula should show up on a blood panel. That only holds if getting tested is quick, affordable and easy enough that people genuinely do it twice.

That is where we come in. MediTests is an Australian direct-to-consumer pathology service. Order online without a referral, walk into any of 3,300+ collection centres, and have your results back in 24 to 48 hours.

Test before you start. Test again ninety days in. Then judge for yourself.

What we test for

  • Total Testosterone – Measures total circulating testosterone, the primary male sex hormone involved in muscle mass, libido, energy, mood and overall hormonal health.
  • Free Testosterone – Measures the biologically active testosterone available for the body to use, providing a better indication of androgen status than total testosterone alone.
  • SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin) – A protein that binds testosterone and oestrogen, helping determine how much free, active testosterone is available.
  • LH (Luteinising Hormone) – Signals the testes to produce testosterone, helping identify whether hormonal issues originate in the brain or testes.
  • FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) – Stimulates sperm production and provides insight into fertility and testicular function.
  • Oestradiol (E2) – The main form of oestrogen in men, important for bone health, libido and hormone balance, particularly during TRT.
  • DHEAS – An adrenal hormone that serves as a precursor to testosterone and oestrogen, reflecting adrenal androgen production.
  • Prolactin – A pituitary hormone that, when elevated, can suppress testosterone production, reduce libido and affect fertility.
  • IGF-1 (Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1) – Reflects growth hormone activity and plays a key role in muscle growth, recovery and metabolism.
  • Total Cholesterol – Measures the total amount of cholesterol in the blood as an overall assessment of cardiovascular risk.
  • Triglycerides – Measures circulating fats used for energy, with elevated levels linked to insulin resistance and heart disease.
  • HDL Cholesterol – Known as “good cholesterol,” helping remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream.
  • LDL Cholesterol – Known as “bad cholesterol,” with elevated levels increasing the risk of plaque build-up in arteries.
  • Non-HDL Cholesterol – Measures all potentially harmful cholesterol particles associated with cardiovascular disease.
  • Cholesterol/HDL Ratio – Compares total cholesterol to HDL, providing an indicator of cardiovascular risk.
  • LDL/HDL Ratio – Assesses the balance between harmful and protective cholesterol for heart health.
  • Sodium – An essential electrolyte involved in hydration, nerve signalling and muscle function.
  • Potassium – A vital electrolyte required for normal heart rhythm, muscle contractions and nerve function.
  • Chloride – Helps maintain fluid balance, hydration and acid-base regulation.
  • Bicarbonate – Assesses the body’s acid-base balance and can indicate metabolic or respiratory disorders.
  • Anion Gap – Helps identify underlying acid-base disturbances and certain metabolic conditions.
  • Urea – A waste product produced from protein metabolism, commonly used to assess kidney function and hydration.
  • Creatinine – A waste product from muscle metabolism used to evaluate kidney filtration.
  • eGFR (Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) – Estimates how efficiently the kidneys are filtering waste from the blood.
  • Bilirubin – A breakdown product of red blood cells that helps assess liver function and bile flow.
  • Total Protein – Measures the combined amount of albumin and globulins, reflecting nutritional status and overall health.
  • Albumin – The main blood protein produced by the liver, important for fluid balance and transporting hormones and nutrients.
  • Globulins – A group of proteins involved in immune function and inflammation.
  • Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) – An enzyme that helps assess liver, bile duct and bone health.
  • AST (Aspartate Aminotransferase) – A liver and muscle enzyme that may increase with liver damage or muscle injury.
  • Gamma GT (GGT) – A sensitive marker of liver function and alcohol-related liver stress.
  • ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase) – A liver enzyme commonly used to detect liver inflammation or injury.
  • Calcium – Measures blood calcium levels, essential for bone health, muscle contraction and nerve function.
  • Corrected Calcium – Adjusts calcium levels for albumin concentration, providing a more accurate assessment of true calcium status.
  • Magnesium – An essential mineral involved in muscle function, nerve signalling, energy production and heart health.
  • Phosphate – Supports bone strength, energy production and cellular function.
  • Uric Acid – A waste product of purine metabolism, with elevated levels associated with gout and kidney stone risk.
  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein) – A marker of inflammation that may increase with infection, injury or inflammatory conditions.
  • Glucose – Measures blood sugar levels to assess energy metabolism and screen for diabetes or impaired glucose control.
