Why this partnership matters
Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among Australian men, and men in regional and rural areas often face extra barriers to looking after their health, from distance and limited local services to the simple fact that health checks tend to slip down the priority list.
That is where community football comes in. Footy clubs are the heartbeat of country towns across WA. By bringing free PSA testing directly to the places where blokes already gather, this partnership removes the two biggest hurdles: cost and convenience.
Kicking off at Fremantle Community Bank Oval
The first event was held at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on 12 July 2026, where men from the local football community could roll up a sleeve and have a free PSA blood test on the spot, with samples collected by trained collectors and analysed by an accredited Australian laboratory.
Every participant receives their result along with clear guidance to discuss it with their doctor, because a PSA result is a starting point for a conversation, not a diagnosis.
